Calling all Mi’kmaw Artists!

Now until January 31, 2018!

Call for Artists – Logo Design Contest!

The Union of Nova Scotia Indians’ Information Governance & Data Project (IGDP) program calls upon Mi’kmaw artists of all ages and skill levels!

You will create the department logos for IGDP, and the First Nation Labour and Employment Development (FNLED) committee, and the cover for an upcoming publication. All 2D and 3D artists – including photography and digital design – from Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia are welcome to submit their unique logos for the IGDP department and for one committee. Please ensure digital entries are submitted in .jpeg or .tiff format with 300dpi resolution. IGDP encourages entries from all Mi’kmaw artists, regardless of experience or skill set! You may submit as many entries as you wish, whether it is for one logo, both logos, the report cover, or all three!
The winning artists’ work will receive extensive national exposure through conferences, presentations, digital and print marketing, media and event announcements, and social media. Our goal is to make the art world aware of the exhibition and in particular, the winning artists’ accomplishments. Links to artists’ website may also be included. Winner(s) will also receive an award certificate, gift card, and be featured on UNSI’s website.

Working with all 13 Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw communities, IGDP coordinates research activities and administers the FNLED survey.  This survey is designed by and for First Nations people, and is a First Nations-specific survey that applies to on-reserve participants only. The study looks into the barriers of education, employment and training amongst First Nations people. We also work with bands in Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.

We look forward to seeing your submissions and good luck to all entries.

For more information, and to submit your art, contact Wasuek Googoo at 902-371-5249 or  Artists may also drop off their entries in person at the 201 Churchill Drive, Suite 304 in Membertou.

The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2018!
